The first letter…
As we’ve been working on for a couple of years now, you know that the first letter is A. You also know all the other letters of the alphabet, are reading some words, doing some basic “equations” with Pop-Pop, and all kinds of other magical amazing things that blow me away on a daily basis.
This last year, 2020, was difficult for lots of reasons. And processing last year and all my years is (in part) the impetus for starting this blog to you. But this last year was also eye-opening as to what I value most in the world, which is you. The rest of the family would undoubtedly agree that you’re just about the best of the best of the best. And through all the worry, strife, and anxiety of the last year, you have been a beacon of hope, a refuge of silliness and light, and a reason to make everything as good as we can.
Don’t get me wrong, you’re also a complete pain in the butt sometimes and we may have hard-wired your brain to have a lifelong obsession with toys. But we’ll deal with that later.
For now, I’m just grateful for you, and Paddy, and my folks and his folks, and our greater family and friends. These are your community my love. They will shelter you and protect you and help form you into the person I hope you become.
I hope these letters may, over time, be a place where I can share some of the life lessons I’ve learned along the way from *my community.* I hope they may help you through tough times, and help you remember how many good times we’ve had.
Love you the most in the university – Mama.
